The Ministry of National Defense clarifies today (23^rd) on the media coverage “Internal conflicts draw wide attention as US and Taiwan discuss Taiwan’s overall defense concept during national defense industry meeting”:

1. To show the nation’s determination to self-defend, the armed forces have been built on the military strategy of “defense and multi-layered deterrence” and the overall defense and warfare concept of “safeguarding military power, annihilate enemies at bay”. Based on the concept of asymmetrical military warfare, the MND makes holistic assessment on warfare needs before going through military building procedures and make preparations for all kinds of weaponry and equipment.

2. The acquiring of asymmetrical weaponry and equipment, as well as the development of warfare strategies and tactics, is based on a full consideration of opinions from all levels and the research results from table top exercises and drill verifications. All military-building and war preparation tasks have been carried out as scheduled, and there has never been such thing as “unreached consensus” or “passive boycott” as claimed by media.
